THE KINGS OF SWING
The Kings of Swing is a 17-piece big band that originated in 1944. Crowds enjoy the big band jazz standards, rich vocals, and swing music the band plays. People of all ages find their toes tapping and get up to dance when they hear the music. You can see the band at local festivals and community events. They play regularly at the Kent Senior Center, on the first Tuesday evening of the month from 7:45 to 9:30. This performance is open to the general public, all ages, with a small cover charge of $4.
Book the Kings of Swing for festivals and events, business and private parties, weddings and anniversaries in the greater Seattle, Everett, Bellevue, Tacoma, and South Sound area. Their repertoire includes Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Louis Prima, Peggy Lee and today’s artists such as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Michael Bublé. They have a large selection of music available to request. The Kings bring 1940s elegance and style to performances in their tuxedos with white dinner jackets and you can count on a tight, polished, professional performance that shows their love for the music.

OUR HISTORY
The Kings of Swing is a 17-piece dance band that originated in 1944 at Seattle’s Cleveland High School. The group soon became known as the Kings of Swing in a tip of the hat to the King of Swing Benny Goodman.
The young members loved playing and, after graduating, they decided to stick together. They played through the war years until 1949 at service clubs, YMCA and USO dances, high school proms and various other functions.
In 1987 the seven original members decided to revive the band. The last of the original members have retired, but their legacy is still part of the Kings of Swing tradition of excellent music.
In 1985 The band was part of a Cultural Exchange and traveled to St Petersburg, Russia to play as part of the White Nights Festival. In Russia, they played at Oktyabrsky and The Jazz Philharmonic Halls in St. Petersburg.
In 1998 the Kings laid down a track for the movie The Trouble with Boys and Girls.
OUR DISCOLIGY
The Kings released their first CD Full Circle in 1998. It features vocals by Tony McArthy and some of the original Kings’ musicians.
The Blue Skies CD was released in 2003 and features vocals by both Tony McArthy and Elizabeth Hott.
In 2018 the band released their first Christmas Album, Everybody's Waitin' For The Man With The Bag. The feature vocals are by the band's current lead vocalist Bethany Wilson.
